It is used to amplify emotions and create a visual language that can be closer to the spectators.  Symmetrical compositions and geometrically balanced frames can create a sense of harmony, stability, order, calmness and balance.  Architecture itself is created with an incredible influence from geometry, it can't be formed without the use of it, and that's another way of relating geometry to architecture and the sets that are used while filming.  Filmmakers sometimes use geometric shapes to convey symbolic meanings or themes.
